What's with Men and "long hair"?????

I hate that probably 98% of men love women with long hair, and they feel the need to express it. I have short hair. My husband hates it. He has told me " I hate getting into bed when all I see is the back of your head, and it looks like I am getting into bed with a man" hahaha. What a turd. At least I have something to get him to leave me along right?? ;) just kidding. Leave it to a married couple who has been married for almost 5 years to have a conversation like this. I told him "If you want to get up every morning, wash my hair, and curl or straighten it, be my guest. I'll grow it out" But we ALL know that won't happen. It is a fact that hair can be tedious and a lot of work. Why have long hair when I am just going to get up, blow dry it, and put it up in a pony tail? Oh yeah, just in case I want me hair to look like a Victoria's Secret model every once in a blue moon. I am a mom. I need something easy. I also believe that not all women look good with long hair. Some women look amazing with short hair!! I think you should be able to wear your hair however you want despise what your hubby or any man says. If it MAKES YOU FEEL confident, pretty, and it's easier to do, then chop it! My hubby just thinks it's not fair that I get to do my hair how I want, and me being a hairstylist, cut his hair however I want it cut. My response is "Go pay someone to cut your hair the way you want, but be prepared to get the silent treatment when you get home!!" And by the way, I'm not always that mean! I sometimes compromise :) It doesn't matter what your hair style is! All these women at the top are gorgeous! Whether they have long or short hair, I have heard men say that these women are hot! So why can't an everyday woman be hot with short hair?? Oh yeah....we can't be airbrushed.

Silk Flowers

I HEART these flowers. I must admit since all I have around the house are trucks, dirty little boy socks, and more trucks, I am seriously addicted to making girly things. It's a good thing in our neighborhood that everyone and their mom's are having baby girls! I get to live through them!! I have posted a picture from aleciasphotography.blogspot.com . I was lucky enough to have this amazing photographer use a flower that I made during a newborn photo shoot. I also have copied and pasted the tutorial from diaryofacraftaholic.blogspot.com I love these flowers because you can use them for anything! Attach them to a pearl necklace, use it as a brooch on a dress or cardigan, hot glue them on a picture frame, bracelet, or headband.

Singed Flower TUTORIAL

Here's how I made my Singed Flower headband from last week. Several of you said you'd made tons of these, and I've only done a handful, so if you have a better way, helpful tips, or want to add something, let me know and I'll add it in.
Supplies:
  • organza fabric made of 100% nylon, rayon, or polyester (you don't need much, scraps will do)
  • lighter
  • scissors
  • small piece of felt
  • pins
  • low heat glue gun
  • brad for flower center
  • knee highs, nylons, or tights (feel free to use that pair of nylons that snagged when you opened them!)
  • about 3" of coordinating ribbon
To Make a Singed Flower:

Cut circles out of fabric. Make each circle about 3/4" bigger than the previous. I like to use at least 4 circles (I know I only pictured 3, it was late and I was watching American Idol :) I free hand my circles. I like the look of not being perfect. So my circles end up being a little oblongish. Here's roughly circle size I used: 1 1/4",
1 1/2", 1 3/4" and 2 1/4" for the biggest. (I like the outer circle to be slightly bigger.)

Use your lighter and singe the edges of all your circles. Be sure to be aware of what is around you so that you don't start a fire :)
I like to curl the edges a little by heating the sides too.

Left is before singeing, and the right is after singeing.

After all circles have been singed, stack them on top of each other.

For this next step, find something heat resistant like a cookie sheet. Heat a pin with the lighter for a few seconds and poke it through the center of the circles. Hot hot pin will melt right through.

But the brad in the center.

Use a low heat glue gun and glue a small piece of felt to the back of the flower. Singed flower is done! yay!

Thanks to Linda over at craftaholic!!

I Have found you can just about use any synthetic fabric.

Creativeness.

I am a total blog stalker blog hopper. I think I am addicted. I was on bed rest for 4 months, and that is about all I did! This is one of the amazing blogs I have discovered. I want to share a post from the MADE blog. www.dana-made-it.com
It's about creativeness, and it really inspires me even more to start this blog!

"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before.
We develop ourselves and others when we take unorganized matter into our hands and mold it into something of beauty."

- Dieter F. Uchtdorf

"So beautifully stated.

The other night I was talking with some friends about that quote and about "being creative" in general. And one of them said, "I'm just not very creative. I don't now what to create. I run marathons."

Coming from an artsy mind I've often thought of "creativity" as being something artistic. But I realized I was far from the point.

You don't have to be an artist or crafter or sewer to "create" things in your life. In fact, that's what makes friendships so interesting. We each have different talents, skills, and personalities which can "take unorganized matter into our hands and mold it into something of beauty."

So, if you don't sew or think you're not "creative".....

* The woman who is great at organization creates structure and an organized home for her family.
* The woman who loves to cook creates happy and full tummies for everyone around her.
* The woman with an athletic flair creates healthy habits and takes her family on adventurous outings.
* The woman who loves conversation creates lasting friendships.
* The woman who can type 100 wpm can create twice as many emails as the rest of us."
